Moulin de Pattus

Check our gite availability here:

Le Moulin de Pattus is a beautiful 17th century stone watermill in the heart of the Gard countryside in the sunny South of France.

It lies on the Vidourle river nearest to the pretty village of Salinelles and 3km from the picturesque medieval town of Sommieres which is half an hour from the cities of Nimes and Montpellier - each with their own airport.

The sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are about 35 mins away. The mill has a fenced old style bassin swimming pool (7m x 11m,) it's own river beach with 2 kayaks (each for 2 adults and a child), games room (pool table, table tennis and other toys), mini football pitch, and an adventure playground for young children.

The area surrounding the mill is idyllic countryside - superb for peaceful walks, cycle riding (bikes provided), and fishing.

The mill has accommodation for up to 27 people split between three gites, so can be a lovely place to stay for a couple seeking peace and tranquility in a stunning location yet near to cafes, restaurants and thriving busy markets... or two or three families wanting a fun but safe environment which caters to all their needs.

Long stays available off season ask for rates.

Within 5 minutes walk, you can find 2 restaurants a bar / cafe and the post office in Salinelles. 5 minutes drive into Sommieres will take you to 2 supermarkets and lots of bars and restaurants and more or less everything else that you will need.

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday! We have two very spirited twin boys and this holiday was the first time we were actually able to sit and relax whilst they played with all the toys and made the most of their new surroundings. The property is all on one level so no worries about falling down steps plus lots of baby locks on cupboards made our life a lot easier! The pool was a hit, as was the games room. We loved the area especially visiting the market in Sommieres - stunning! We also took the boys to quite a few of the surrounding sites including the Aquarium, petting farm, Montpellier historical centre (yes with two year old twins!!) and the beach in Grande Motte. We will definitely be back :)

In general it was a gorgeous property, and Tots were very helpful and friendly. All fantastic.
Docherty Family August 2014

We had a fantastic family holiday and were really impressed with the facilities and equipment - so much for the children and everything you need in the kitchen, lovely BBQ etc. It was so refreshing to go somewhere that was actually better than the pictures on the website - not oversold at all, we were thrilled with our choice and loved the place so much we hardly ventured out! Thanks to Wendy for the recommendations of where to go for days out on our travel days - we did the water park on arrival day and crocodile park on the way back...both were great, kids especially loved the crocodile park and its fantastic playground!
The Talbot Family, August 2014

We had a wonderful time at the Water Mill. Fantastic accommodation, facilities and location. The apartment was beautifully done, and we think pretty much everything had been thought of (from toys and dvds for the children, to torches, tupperware and shopping bags); we also really appreciated the supply of holiday rental essentials (washing tabs, bin bags etc) being generous - much better than most other places we have been to. The playground and games room were great, and the pool lovely: warm, with seating both in the sun and shade. The location was super - a shortish drive from the airports, Nimes, Montepellier, and the sea for easy daytrips, Sommieres, only 5 minutes drive away, was beautiful, with an atmospheric weekend market, and Salinelles, which is easily walkable, was very pretty and has an excellent little bakery. Best of all was spending evenings on the balcony gazing up at a ridiculously star-filled sky watching the bats and listening to the owls! Idyllic.
Swire Family, August 2014

Lots of lovely toys to entertain the children (both indoor and outdoor)
Backpacks useful for short walks, as was the single stroller, small bicycles & scooter etc
Kitchen has everything you need
Lounge area good for evenings and enough Peppa Pig episodes to keep everyone happy
Bedrooms comfy and plenty of storage
Children liked their little room off main bedroom.
Thank you for a wonderful stay - it was worn the 24,000 mile round trip!
PS Always something happening on the bridge :)

We had a great time at the Moulin de Pattus and really enjoyed our stay.
We are already thinking about when we can come back in the next years.
All the rooms, equipment and the total location was excellent. We enjoyed the pool and the pool area, used the canoes, did some table tennis and had great fun with our barbecues.
Family B, September 2011

...I would just like to tell you how pleased we were with our stay and the house and facilities as a whole. It was a privilege to stay in such a beautifully decorated house, every little detail is just perfect.

I have already started to plan another trip next summer and I am pretty sure our Icelandic friends and family will come and stay in the future..

Family R, Ground floor gite, August 2011

For our family the location was perfect - a country retreat but with all necessary amenities on the doorstep. We made full use of the all the mill has to offer, the pool was in daily use...... The configuration of the gite and the rest of the mill's amenities has worked well for us. The staff are the jewel in the crown though and they have added to the quality of our stay.
Family J, Ground floor gite. August 2011.

What a fantastic time we've all had! Tres magnifique!!! House is beautiful, so light, airy and jam packed full of everything a family with you kiddy-winks could ever need.
The river and kayaks have provided lots of fun and the children liked feeding the ducklings.
Wendy was very good and even did a bit of babysitting for us one evening when we went to Jardin de Blanche - very very good and not bad price-wise either!
Family G .12th -1 9th September 2009

We have had a fabulous stay. What a perfect place for our children to experience France! To be next to a river was such fun for our two boys. Swimming, kayaking, frog catching and even watching two horses cooling off with their ridings on board.
A truly beautiful place. The house is so full of character and the bedrooms stayed cool at night. The pool was perfect for a hot day. Thank so much to Wendy for all her help.
